Aug 18, 2020 Macintosh OS Server 1.0- 1.2v3 based on Rhapsody which is half and half of OPENSTEP from NeXT Computer and Mac OS 8.5.1. The GUI looks like the blend of MAC OS 8's Platinum appearance with OPENSTEP's NeXT based interface. Last rx. mac os. This Blue box is for running inheritance MAC OS based applications which have a different window. There was a discussion. Command-H: Hide the windows of the front app. To view the front app but hide all other apps, press Option-Command-H. Command-M: Minimize the front window to the Dock. To minimize all windows of the front app, press Option-Command-M. Command-O: Open the selected item, or open a dialog to select a file to open. Command-P: Print the current document.

  • For the times I need to use a calculator, I simply go back to Calculator II on my aging Power Mac G4. It gets the job done without wasting screen space. Note: This article was originally published in 2012, when I still used a Power Mac G4 with OS X 10.4 Tiger and Classic Mode. Although I still have that setup, I rarely use it these days.
  • X Window (or X11) is the low level windowing system (the equivalent of the Win32 API under Windows) available with Unix / Linux and Mac OS X. According to this page, X11 is an option under Mac OS X (on my Lion-based system, X11 is available by default). Desktop environments like KDE or Gnome are built on top of X11.
